Core gameplay loop

"Cellar Keeper is a cozy single-player organizing simulator where you sort 2,448 scattered bottles throughout a forgotten cellar."

That line from developer EgoTrampoline sums up the whole experience. Released Aug 6, 2026 at $4.49, Cellar Keeper drops you into a forgotten cellar with empty racks and 2,448 bottles scattered everywhere except where they belong. Your task is to return every bottle to its proper shelf, group collections by type, and restore perfect order as efficiently as possible.

The loop is short, readable, and easy to fall into:

  • Survey the cellar and identify which racks are still incomplete.
  • Pick up loose bottles from the floor, corners, and nearby shelving.
  • Group your carried bottles by collection type before moving.
  • Place each bottle onto its matching rack position.
  • Complete the rack to lock in progress and reveal the next area to clean.

Rack completion is the game's central counter. The achievement list tracks it step by step:First Rack for your first completion,Getting Organized at 10 racks,Rack by Rack at 50,Cellar Expert at 100,Master Organizer at 200, and Keeper of the Cellar at 400. Finishing every rack and restoring the entire cellar awards Perfect Order.

Save Anytime and Playable without Timed Input mean the cellar never punishes you for stopping. If you have five minutes, clear one corner, save, and walk away; the bottles will still be waiting exactly where you left them.

Combat and exploration

There is no combat in Cellar Keeper. Your opponents are clutter, wasted trips, and messy routes. The game stays cozy by design: nothing attacks you, no countdown forces your pace, and the only pressure you feel is self-imposed. That makes exploration the real gameplay field.

Exploring the cellar means learning the rack layout and memorizing which collection type belongs on which shelf. Early on, you will spend a lot of time walking between piles and racks. Later, you will read an incomplete rack at a glance and already know where its bottles are hiding. The Camera Comfort settings, full controller support for DualShock and DualSense, and Custom Volume Controls keep longer sessions comfortable.

Good exploration habits develop fast:

  • Scan each incomplete rack first so you know the target collection type before touching a bottle.
  • Carry bottles in grouped loads that match one rack instead of making single-bottle trips.
  • Push toward the 10-bottle carry; the Juggling Act achievement confirms when you hit it.
  • Check corners and shelf edges regularly; the last few bottles of a rack hide better than you expect.

The one place where exploration becomes speed is Speedrun Mode. It strips away the relaxed pace and asks you to restore order as efficiently as possible. Completing it earns the No Shortcuts achievement, and it is the closest the game comes to a combat-like challenge.

Progression systems

Progression in Cellar Keeper runs on two parallel tracks:rack milestones and skill unlocks. Racks give you visible, countable progress, while skills change how the work feels.

The rack track is simple and transparent. Every completed rack adds to your total, and the game's 10 Steam Achievements document the climb. The skill track is quieter: the game hands you helpful abilities as you restore the cellar, and Peak Efficiency rewards you for unlocking every skill. The exact loadout reveals itself only by playing, but it is built to smooth out the busywork.

A practical progression checklist:

  • Complete your first rack to confirm how the shelf sorting loop works.
  • Keep completing racks to trigger ability unlocks at a natural pace.
  • Glance at the achievement list as you pass 10, 50, and 100 racks so you never lose track.
  • Check the Steam Leaderboards if you want a score to chase; they track your restoration pace.
  • Let Steam Cloud and Save Anytime sync your save between play sessions.

There is no grind wall. Because the game plays at your own pace and requires no timed input, the only progression speed limit is how cleanly you plan your routes.

Mid-game goals

Somewhere between 50 and 100 completed racks, Cellar Keeper shifts from a tidy-up puzzle into a logistics game. You know the bottle types, you recognize the rack layouts, and the fun becomes efficiency: fewer steps, fuller hands, and a faster path to the final rack. This is the right moment to set concrete goals.

  • Push past Rack by Rack at 50 and aim for Cellar Expert at 100 to keep a steady target ahead.
  • Unlock every skill before the climb toward 200 racks;Peak Efficiency makes the long haul noticeably smoother.
  • Plan for Perfect Order as the true final goal, since it asks for every rack in the cellar, not just a rack count.
  • Try Speedrun Mode once you feel confident in your routes, and go for No Shortcuts.

Treat Juggling Act, holding 10 bottles at once, as the skill that defines good play. Once you get used to the 10-bottle carry, every rack in the mid-game becomes a matter of two or three clean trips instead of a dozen small ones.

The later stretch of Cellar Keeper is less about new mechanics and more about refined execution. Restoring 400 racks takes persistence, but the cozy framing keeps the pressure off. The cellar stays calm, the bottles keep waiting, and the only thing you truly manage is your own route.
